Boston Common – Public park
Boston Common is the oldest public park in the United States, dating from 1634, it’s as old as the city itself. Boston Common may seem like a unique urban green space, but is a link in a greater chain of green space that stretches all the way through Boston to the suburb of Roxbury. Boston Common is one of our top 10 things to see in Boston.

In this park you can find almost anything but a cow, cows have been banned since 1830. Latin names are affixed to many of the Common’s trees; it was once expected that proper Boston schoolchildren be able to translate them.
